CCP members jointly decide to carry on with the street protests originating from Aitzaz Ahsan’s house every Sunday despite the bomb blast a few days earlier. Mrs. Nasira Iqbal, Mr. Ali Ahsan and Mrs. Bushra Aitzaz deliver speeches on the current situation stressing CCP’s one point agenda. Participants line both sides of the canal, raise slogans, display banners and posters and distribute printed material (flyers as well as stickers) to motorists etc. An event well received and widely projected by the electronic and print media.

CCP members congregate in front of High Court, along with lawyers, to lay wreaths and flowers at the site of the blast in memory of the policemen and other people killed there. A group of CCP members visit Mayo Hospital to inquire about the condition of the injured blast victims.

CCP members go to Lahore Bar to participate in lawyers’ weekly protest. A fortunate delay of about 25 minutes saves the participants from a suicide bomb attack at the GPO chowk where the group was headed. Blast kills more than 30 people including 20 young policemen. Lawyers’ rally aborted.

A protest demonstration staged in front of Aitzaz Ahsan’s house to shift focus back to judicial crisis after the Benazir Bhutto’s assassination. Senator Shafqat Mehmud and Bushra Aitzaz address the gathering. One point agenda of Restoration of Judiciary, Constitution and the Rule of Law reaffirmed. People from different organizations like AGHS, WAF, SCBA and political parties participate. Posters, flyers and banners distributed.

New Year’s eve protest plan revived. Programme held at the Lahore Press Club Auditorium coordinated with lawyers’ 24 hrs hunger strike at the same venue. Opening speech by Hamid Zaman about the civil society movement and its significance. Speech by Mrs. Bushra Aitzaz expressed condolences for Benazir Bhutto. Short dialogue about dictatorship and freedom of thought enacted by WAF members. New year’s resolution in Urdu and English read out by Justice Nasira Iqbal and Advocate Salman Raja. Revolutionary songs and Du’a sung by a group of CCP members led by Sarah Zaman.

CCP members join a protest called by SAC at Minar-e-Pakistan. Leaflets highlighting Quaid-e-Azam’s birthday and his vision of Pakistan distributed.

Rally coordinated with other like-minded groups including lawyers, HRCP and WAF, at Mazar-e-Iqbal and Huzuri Bagh. Police barricade the monument but one gate is opened and members allowed to enter. Flyers distributed amongst a crowd of about 1000 people. Afterwards, members visit the Geo TV protest camp at the Lahore Press Club.

CCP members visit the houses of various deposed judges to wish Eid Mubarak and to show support & solidarity. Aitzaz Ahsan arrested again. Members gather at his house at short notice and march to the Shahra-e- Quaid-e-Azam for demonstration and speeches. About 250-300 people attend and flyers are distributed amongst the passers by.
