KILLINGS IN RAMAZAN

TERROR STRUCK Lahore once again. This time the procession which was taken out to mark the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Ali (RA) was the target. Earlier it was the shrine of Data Sahib which was hit by the terrorists, besides many more such tragic incidents in the city recent years.

Those who are behind terrorist attack on religious disharmony among the Muslim and to widen the existing sectarian divide for their nefarious designs. They think that it is the most lethal weapon.

Terrorism is a worldwide phenomenon. No place is safe today. But this is to be remembered that processions religious or political, become easy target as provision of fool security to the long and slowmoveing processions is not humanly possible.

Large processions on busy roads are more vulnerable to terrorists attack for having no fixed entry and exit points. In addition to thousands of participants there are also hundreds of onlookers and passersby all around. There is also residential and commercial building around. In my opinion it is not humanly possible to check and search everyone who is on foot, in building and seated in the moving vehicles.

Whenever such a tragic incident takes place the city administration the police and intelligence agencies are scolded for negligence on their part. This is unfair in some cases. Particularly where long processions are involved.

In view of the uncertain security situation in and around the country, it would be in the fitness of things if processions are avoided voluntarily and instead gatherings are held in walled premises.

Without having been swept away by religious sentiments, those organizing religious processions and taking part there in should instead be requested to opt for holding the gatherings in secured premises until such time the menace of terrorism is completely wiped out.
The present situation calls for utmost religious harmony and demonstration of the real spirit of Islamic brotherhood. The terrorists have no religion. They are neither Muslims nor believer in some other religion. They are not even human beings. In fact they are devils garbed as human beings.
