CCP’s immediate aim is to provide temporary shelter and food to the homeless people of all the 4 provinces. Over the next few weeks our efforts would expand to provide the affectees with clothing, utensils and medicines as well.
CCP’s aim over the next 12 months is to adopt 3 villages in and around the area of Mardan with a view to completely rehabilitate these 500- 600 families. This would include building of new houses as well as making efforts to reclaim agricultural land.
CCP’s target is to raise Rs 100 million in the next 12 months to cover our long term goal of assisting complete rehabilitation of the flood affectees.
Our immediate target is to raise Rs 25 million by December 2010 for emergency aid consisting of food, medicines and clothing for 500 families.
CCP has visited the various flood affected areas to assess the damage and develop contacts to effectively deliver emergency assistance and long term rehabilitation.CCP is working through its own network of members and volunteers to collect funds, accompany relief trucks and distribute goods on ground zero in Mardan and its adjoining areas, Mianwali, D. G Khan, and Layyah.
In Swat, we have renewed our key contacts in the region, including Swat Relief Initiative, which were established in 2009 as part of our very effective campaign to assist Swat IDP's to provide relief work.
In Bhakkar, Multan and D.G. Khan we are working in alliance with the Aurat Foundation, Awami Development Organization and Rural Development Organization
In addition we are working with the Pakistan Army and using their transport mechanism like the C-130 to provide relief in areas not accessible by land.
Our corporate alliances have helped us immensely in not only gathering funds but also medicines and food for the flood affectees. We are backed in our efforts by:
The United Nations has termed Pakistan floods as the biggest natural disaster ever and has urged the world to pool in at least US$ 460 million for immediate relief. The UN has also said that Pakistan will need billions of dollars more to rebuild after floodwaters recede.
It is time for us to do our duty as concerned humans and concerned citizens.
