Rehabilitation works.

For IDPs and flood affected people of KPK and Punjab, CCP has taken part in Rehabilitation works. Initially food packets, clothes, medicine, water, blankets, tents and other necessities were sent to the affected people. 23 houses have been completed so far at Nawshehra including 10 houses for widows. More funds have also been provided to the welfare foundation at Nawshehra to enhance the rehabilitation works.

In Swat, rehabilitation works are underway. 50 houses have been completed under the supervision of 19th Division of army in this area. With the collaboration of Swat Relief Initiative, doctors and other relevant staff have been hired and paid by the funds provided by CCP, for the last 1 year for serving in labour room at DHQ hospital Swat, hence saving the lives of thousands of infants and their mothers.

In Punjab, 2 villages, “Kakh” & “Doraywala” in District Muzaffargarh were adopted for rehabilitation works. 68 houses have been completed and handed over along with 15 unit bathrooms to help poor flood affected peoples of these villages. Construction of 3 schools and a dispensary is under consideration for these 2 villages and locality. Construction will be started just after the completion of survey.

Voter awareness & education.

A group of young members of CCP is working for voter awareness & education as well as registration. In the 1st phase, volunteers are being engaged and trained who would conduct surveys and hence educate people about importance and power of vote. Further on, this group will work for the registration of new voters in the current electoral lists. Initially urban area of Lahore will be educated and then the programme would be expanded gradually to the other parts of the country.

Protest against lawlessness and extra judicial killings.

On Sunday 12th, 6:30 pm, at Liberty roundabout in Lahore, a demonstration was held to protest against the extra judicial killings and lawlessness in the country, including the killing of journalist Saleem Shahzad, Professor Saba Dashtiari, Kharotabad massacre and the most recent one being the shooting of a citizen by the Rangers in Karachi. The CCP has registered protest against the lack of governance, accountability and the lawlessness that has become rampant in the country. It is perturbing that the ruling elite commit crimes with impunity and enjoy immunity from punishment. CCP appealed to all Pakistanis to protest & strive against the alarming & appalling lawlessness in the country which is compelling the nation to a dark abyss.
